How much new content should I post on my website per week/month/year?

We’re all busy running our businesses, I get it. In my own business, I’m the salesman, accountant, web developer, web designer, social media department, graphic design team, customer service rep and coffee maker. You might be a little ‘luckier’ to have someone working for you that takes some of these responsibilities. But even the most organized of owners can be strapped for time, especially when it comes to developing and adding new content for their own website.

It’s one of those things that can be easily pushed aside into that ‘not as important’ category. But when it comes to not only getting web traffic but sending the traffic you are already getting further down the sales funnel -> getting closer to being a lead, not just a referral – creating content is one of the most important things you can do for your website.

How much should you be posting? Depends on how interested you are in growing your business. Also depends a lot on how interested people would be to read articles that relate to your industry or particular business. But a good rule of thumb, a realistic rule of thumb, is to create 1 new piece of content a week. A lot of companies will stretch you to making it 2-3 pieces per week. But that takes a lot of discipline. There’s enough articles out there that can show you how to grow that discipline – but starting with 1 piece a week is just that, a start.

If you can do that on a regular basis, you’ll find yourself attracting new leads in no time. Of course, focusing on creating good content is important – but even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes. Or at least that’s what grandpa always said.
